“My curls just don’t last anymore”

I hear your curls don’t last like they used to!

Listen! I really can’t say exactly why to be honest, but I do know that you are not alone hun. I get it. You get your hair done, styled to perfection, only to wake up the next day- and the day after that- and all your curls are gone… smooshed!

Yea, I knooooow. Once upon a time when you were that young spring chicken you didn’t need to wear a scarf to bed nor did you even have to prep your hair. You could just get up the next day and your hair would be ready to go. It used to be thick, flowy and full of body. But honey chile, it’s been yeaaaaarrrsss. Things are changing, especially if you’ve been inducted into the 35+ club and since this change may be due to many different reasons the only thing you can do is Adapt! Yup that’s what I got for you. Change with the hair, while you attempt (if it’s possible) to get it back to what it used to be.

Here are some things to try:

  • See a licensed hairstylist for an assessment to make sure the hair is in its best state or to get on a regimen so it can be on its way. Book an appointment at The Beautisserie - Use BLOG at checkout for $15 off.

HEATLESS CURLS

Cut back on the heat tools to preserve your curls and opt for some more heatless styling like pin curls or those good ol’ rollers. If your hair strands are struggling and feeling limp, more heat will only damage the follicles, so you need to ease up.   TIP: Use a smaaaallll amount of foam or setting spray to set curls.

  • Rollers have certainly evolved today, you have quite a bit to choose from... but those basic first-time ones with the covers?? still works and will never fail ya! Check out these AD heatless curling options to use every other night to help maintain your style throughout the week.

    HAIRSPRAY

  • If your hair is of a finer texture or you’ve recently lost some density, and your hair is missing that oomph… it needs a little help staying bouncy. So invest in a good hairspray, one that offers hold, shine and heat protection.  My favs are from Kenra and I’ve listed all of them Ad here.

ACCESSORIES

When all else fails, work with what you’ve got. Embrace the frizz, embrace the fallen curls and add an accessory to take you through the day… or week. I’m talking about throwing on your most stylish cap/scarf. Headbands now come in so many trendy styles and prints, so be sure to add a few of these Ad hair accessories to your cart and stock up for any occasion or outfit.

Whether the changes in your hair are due to hormones, change in lifestyle or medical reasons. Again, just adapt, make some changes in your routine…the goal is to make styling your hair work for you, so you do not become a slave to it.
